Not posted much I'm afraid and now on for advice..
C20XE engine, Ford type 9 gearbox and english none LSD differential is the spec.
Whilst on a recent track day my car threw a rod and locked up before going into the kitty litter. I've replaced the engine but upon driving the
car has some issue with the gearbox, in first and reverse it feels like the gears are grinding and it wont pull away, if I try again it will drive as
normal.
Just after any thoughts on why this would be and if the engine locking and the rear wheels still being driven by momentum would cause it.

Does it grind if you try to pull away in 2nd? It may be a clutch release fault.
I would think its twisted a shaft inside the box.You could strip it but considering the relatively low cost of a box easiest to replace it with another.
Selector problem it is in two gears at the same time ---
I've not tried but will try on Monday and report back, thanks for the post.

Possibly broken a tooth or two in the box.
Interesting puzzle. Possibly a bent selector could have the reverse gear contact 1st gear.. Causing horrific noises.
Also a chipped tooth on either first or reverse cogs would also cause some seriously disconcerting noises.
Doesn't take much tooth damage either to produce disproportionate noises.
Bin the thing and fit another..

Gearbox not designed to go from lots of rpm to 0 rpm in a split second !
I wonder did you fit the spigot bearing in the end of the crankshaft ?

several things here......why did it throw a rod? XE's don't do that unless: they have no oil pressure, or they have standard rod bolts, or
they were revved over 8000-8500rpm
Next, could it have been the gearbox that broke the engine?!??
A type 9's days are fairly numbered behind a decent XE!!
better off with an r28 box off an omega if you ask me, bolts straight up, much stronger and feels a thousand times more refined to drive than the
type 9
edit... and they weigh 11kg less than a type 9!
