Has anyone ever mated a subaru boxer engine to a toyota or other 5 speed transmission?

Info please.

Thank you

You do see the occasional subaru in just rear wheel drive guise in the drifting series, Im not sure if they weld up the center diff and lose the front prop or use an alternative transmission.

weld up the center diff and plug wear the drive shaft would normally come out for the front wheels and remove the front diff to lose that extra bit of weight, would that not be the simplest thing to do and you could even go for 6-speed

Yes... that is what i will be investigating more thoroughly.

Thanks

An idea so good Bruce Mayers (original inventor of the beach buggy) is using them for his new DualSport buggies.

Uses the turbo and a 18inch straight pipe as the only silencer if the pictures are to be believed.

most subarus (impreza and legacy at least) dont have a front prop and diff, they just have a pair of halfshafts straight out of the gearbox, with an internal diff.

yep, that's what you both said!

It's pretty much the old fwd box, with a centre diff and rear output shaft added.

Middies lock the centre diff and remove the rear output shaft, fronties take out the front diff and driveshafts (and possibly the centre diff?)
