Hi all,
Still deciding what to buy, but more of a problem is the engine + gearbox I have a select few which are:
1) 4AGE 1600 16v or if i can afford it a 20v and bolt a s/c on once ive stopped scaring myself.
2)2.0 Zetec
3)1.8 Zetec
I was originally going to put a 2.0 Zetec in but was "informed" (roughly) the input shaft on the type 9 was too short or long, but i was
under the impression that the 1800 and 2.0 zetec's were of the last ford derived engines i.e. same g/box bell housing mounts as on the type 9 box
so would it be a case of spacers?
Really any information on any of the above combos and what is needed for the 4AGE to RWD? Still new to the kit car scene so if i'm being think
please excuse me.

Try and get a ride in both a BEC and CEC before deciding which engine to install. I'm not saying you'd prefer the BEC but you need to get a
ride in one before making your final choice of engine...

Its not the speed that i was worried about but the drivability. I live on the Malvern Hills worcestershire and have heard stories of the torque and
general user friendlyness, so i hadnt really even thought about it. what are they like on insurance and the cost of installing them?
More of a drivers car. each to their own i suppose.

yes zetec 1.8 clutch
try search on here lots of info about zetec to type 9
you do need a type nine from an inline engine ie not a v6
the 1.6 cvh is a cheap option tho as well normally come free with sierra donar and gives option of upgrade to zetec as well
The 4 AGE is a good unit, the fwd unit requires a T50 Transmission. The bell housing, clutch, and slave cylinder bolt right on. There is a little extra work to plumb the rad. There is a chap in Australia who has done a magnificent job with info on the 4 AGE, he put one in a Ford Anglia

You wont often here me say this but Hellfire's advice is well founded. Any car is only fast if you put your foot down and having some potential can be a good thing. I loved my ride in BigRich's car, very surprised at how tractable the Z10 is. Im not converted to BEC but it defo has its uses.

I would say think of how you want to use your car 90% of the time ,if this is 2 up trips into the countryside with the missus then a car engine is
probably a more sensible option
BUT
If you want the full on ,light weight, high revving experience, and don't mind it being a little less forgiving then a BEC could be the answer. I
would seriously recommend a spin out in both before you place an order just so your sure in your own mind
