It lives!!
After nearly two years of 'playing in the garage', I turned the key and it just started!!!
It ticks over pretty well although I suspect all is not completely right as it seems the generate and incredible amount of heat. When I had a little
test drive some petrol sprayed out of the carbs into my eyes when I put my foot down.
The ZX9 carbs are as they came off the bike.
I know very little about carbs. Can anyone suggest a place to start or offer any advice?
Anyway, I'm still smiling and feel like I'm well on the way now.
Thanks to everyone on here for all the advice I've gained from your posts so far.

I would be checking the ignition timing as a first thing. What are you using for spark?
Cheers

I'm using Megajolt which would appear to be working when I plug it into a laptop. After this I start to run out of skills.
Any help appreciated...
Alternatively does anyone able to recommend anyone in Suffolk who may be able to help?

Thats what I'm using, I would do this, get a bog standard cheapo timing light on it and see what you get, unplug the connector on the side of
the megajolt and get the timing light back on it should be giving a static 10 degrees of advance, this is controlled by the edis, commonly known as
limp home mode, if not mess with your trigger wheel to get it spot on at 10 degrees, plug back in the connector on the megajolt and upload a base 2d
map for your engine and commit the change, you should be able to change the numbers and hear the idle change, you now know you ignition timing is cock
on.
Cheers

Petrol spraying out of carbs sounds bad..... Carbs aren't that tricky to strip down and use an air line on all the orifices to make sure
they're clear.
Most bike engines use constant velocity Keihins. I'm sure there's a book somewhere on re-building them but to be honest they're not
that tricky!!!
