MK Rear Wishbone mounting brackets
Was having a bit of a bolt check on my Indy yesterday and have a few concerns.
where the wishbones mount to the 'U' brackets how tight should the bolts be?
Also some but not all the brackets are pulled in a little making the distance at the top smaller than the bottom of the 'U'.
This can't be right i'm sure but would like to know what others have done to rectify this? is it just a matter of adding some washers?
Thanks

Ideally the metal crush tube in the wishbone should just fit inside the U bracket and the toal width across the outer faces of the poly bushes
should be fractionally less than the crushtube length . This way the bolt will clamp the crush tube firmly in the U bracket whilst allowing the poly
bushes to move freely (when greased) around the crush tube.
If the crush tube is too long it will be clamped up OK, but will allow the bushes to slide laterally in the U bracket. If the crush tube is too short
the bushes will be clamped in the U bracket and not be free to rotate properly.
In practice I found when assmbling my Indy that I needed to be selective in which crush tube went in which wishbon/poly bush combination to get the
best fit. Even then I had to file some of the crush tube end a little to get the best fit. Some of the crush tubes were a little narrower than the U
bracket which resulted in the U bracket closing up slightly when tightening the nut and bolt up - IMHO a little deformation isn't an issue
provided the crush tube is firmly clamped and the bushes are free to rotate with no lateral play.
(excuse me if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here BTW)
If you're concerned, then a few pics for us to check might be the easiest way.
ETA...
Nuts and bolts should be done up good and tight. I don't have a torque figure to hand, but in simple terms - as tight as you can with with a
pair of 19mm spanners.

The bolt's need to be tight. I would get a few thin washers to pack it out if needed; the crush tube in the middle should be a good fit in the U
before tightening.
Check the crush tubes are the correct length (i.e all the same) maybe you have some under size ones?
I think a couple on ours where a bit undersized, but not by much; I did'nt to use any washers...

Thanks for the reply's Nick no teaching me to suck egg's treat me as thick as i'm new to all this kind of stuff. not to say
i'm not able to do it just i've never done it before.
I will get some pic's done so i can show you what is going on and then it might give a better explination than me
I think that the crush tubes may be a little under sized as the brackets are against the poly bushes on some.
Thanks again for the help
