Changing Diff
I know were there is a 3.14 diff possibly coming up for sale, has anyone changed a diff by dropping it out of the bottom of the chassis, it looks
possible, really don't feel like fanny arsing around stripping the roll bar off to remove the boot lid or having to remove the rear bodywork

Not sure re a MK Indy but certainly is possible with the STM. I installed my roll bar early on so installed the diff from underneath. The engine hoist
was being used in another bit of the garage so I went under the car (which was on build stands) on my back, lifted the diff in place, pulled my knees
up to rest the diff on and then bolted it in. Worked fine. Got a little shakey knee syndrome toward the end as the lactic acid built up but the
thought of a rather heavy diff crashing down between my legs kept them from moving too much

I changed the diff in my MK by dropping it out the bottom. That was with bolt on shafts, not sure if that'll make a difference

i changed my fury diff from underneath.
tight but possible, that was with push in shafts. just undid the upright bolts.
used a jack to take most of the weight rather than my legs though!
sorry for lack of caps, typing one handed while on hold on the phone...

yeh i did mine the other week too, all i had to do was watch i didnt knock and damage the copper brake/fuel lines.
i tried to do it with the boot still in but had to give up and take that out in the end as i couldnt get to the upper bolts!
mine was also bolt on shafts, but i had to drop the drivers side suspension off to let it all drop down a few more inches so the shaft was clear.
good luck
Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.

Don't underestimate how heavy it is, like others have side you could place a jack under it to make life easy..

Thanks guys, I'm now begining to realise the wisdom of NOT using the original long bolt for the top mounting but heeding the advice of the more
knowledgable amongst us and using 2 socket/allen bolts, would be a major strip down to get that bugger out.

3.14 diff with a blade would be too low really IMO, i doubt you'd ever top out

I agree with Austen
the 3.14 will be too tall for the blade, it struggles to rev out on a 3.21 freelander and all the RGB IRS cars favour the 3.38 ratio.
