Lots of UPGRADES!!!!
Ok, so up top now (in my mad spending spree) i have baught.
13" Toyo R888's (185 and 205's)
13" Team dynamics pro race 1.2's in white
Wilwood powerlite braking system.
Barnett springs
New clutch
I had a close look at the car last night and i really want to get it tidyed up as the wishbones and brackets holding the cycle wings on are showing a
little bit of rust, and the brackets holding on the headlights are aswell
What is the best way to make these like new, spray paint them or get them powder coated?
What do you guys usually do???

Remove the bits and send them for blasting and powder coating.
Should be less than £100 for all 8 wisbones, headlamp bar and wing stays.

I would paint the bones and brackets.
I got my bones powder coated when they were new, by MK. The majority of it has chipped or flaked off now.
The wing stays, I primed and painted in Hammerite smooth. Which has stayed pretty much intact.

i think i will go down the powder coating route. My wishbones i have on at the minute look like they have been painted.
How does a powder coated finish look?

With leading edges, i'd be very tempted to, once painted or coated, brush paint with slightly thinned black sikaflex or similar. Ok, so they
won't look lovely and smooth but stones should just bounce off them therefore staying rust free and without need for repair.

Powder coat is excellent as long as the bones are blased first. Old powder coat is difficult to get off even wiith blasting.
I'd still paint them though, Halfords satin gives a lovely finish and can easily be touched up, unlike powder coat.
Tim, you rough arse fecker, think you've spent too much time around those good 'ol racer boys

get them powdercoated, but somewhere good.
I know 5 blasters/powdercoaters, but only 1 of them does a good job which lasts well and looks good.
best to find somewhere which has been recommended by someone you know.

I had my wishbones powdercoated and then I covered the leading edges with a clear adhesive vinyl (any good sign shop will supply) the vinyl takes the
stones and can't be seen.

Can't recommend epoxy mastic from http://www.rust.co.uk/ enough, my new wishbones powdercoated (from two suppliers) are chipped after just 2000
miles. The chassis has no marks...

second vote for epoxy mastic 121. have done my whole chassis with it and cant fault it.
i found that it chipped quite easily at first but after 2-3 weeks it must have set properly as its now pretty hard to chip off.
i have slipped with a spanner a a few times and it hasn't chipped off. it also stood up to the abuse of me bashing my ali side panels over the
chassis rails.
as with everything preparation is the key to a good hard wearing finish. i sanded down my whole chassis then roughed it up to get a really good key
for the paint to stick to.
little tip. dont bother painting it on with a brush. spray it with a proper spray gun as the end result is much much better

I suspect that's down to the quality of powder coating Mike.
Th coating on my MK it is shocking. I got my wheels and cycle wing brackets done at my local place who also happen to be Z Cars' coater of
choice and the results are second to none - blasted, zinc coated and coated. The brackets look like glass.
I'll keep going back to them for everything I need coating and/or re-finishing every time (prices are reasonable too).
