New Shiney Bits

Following my thread about my new rear end discs etc....

I decided i wanted 4 pots on the front... I already had a set of cosworth 4 pots as I'm sure you are aware they will not fit sierras uprights without modification...

Anyway I found on ebay a pair of uprights off a 3 door cosworth, these have the tapered bottom mount (not pinch bolt like on saphires) and bolt straight up to the 4 pots. They didnt sell on ebay so I dropped the seller a message making him a lower offer, after some negotiation I now own these nicely powder coated items

I know wilwoods would be a lighter and probably better option but I like to be different

Hi, I know that the four pots arent an easy fit to the sierra upright and hence you bought the cossie ones but is it impossible? as I have the cossie calipers and wanted to fit them to the standard uprights Ray

It is indeed possible...

(1) you need to grind the lugs back a few mm on the calipers and a few mm on the uprights to get the calipers to center on the disc.

(2) drill out the uprights mounting holes so they are the same size as the calipers I forget the size but if you have a pair its easy enough to check.

(3) You will need to bolt them togeateher withg nut and bolt as standard sierras the calipers are threaded and uprights a clean hole, and on 4 pots its the other way round. so you would be left with two unthreaded holes.

Another option I thought of for (1) might be to space the disc out but not sure on the implications of this as it would move the mounting offset for the wheel etc.

Anyway hope this helps, failing that there is another pair of these hubs on ebay but they are not cheap at £200 (though I know he will accept £175, still pricey though! at that price I would buy wilwoods if you really wanted 4 pots!)

The main reason I bought the uprights was I didn't fancy driving around trusting brakes which I had ground the lugs down on or the mounts on the uprights.... brakes are quite important to me and a failure could be very scary!

Thanks Dan I also have some escort cos discs (less inset) may be able to use those without modding the lugs I agree I dont want to weaken anything either Ray
