Exhaust silencer mounting

Where and what why do you mount the silencer
Is it to the bottom chassis rail
My exhaust seems way to high to mount to the chassis rail

Mines actually attached to the floor with a angled bracket that then goes up the side of the car, although some are mounted through the body work.

Also it's the "correct" way to load the rubber mount, if you simply bolt to the side panel (i.e. a vertical surface) the mount is under shear and will fail early..

Btw. My mk silencer is extremely heavy as it probably packed to reduce noise
What other silencers could you use to reduce weight if noise wasn't an issue could you use a carbon fibre bike exhaust for instance
