Handbrake cable fitting.
Hi ,I have just finished putting the rear disc brake set up on my Indy and wondered if anyone else had come up with a simple idea for getting the
handbrake cable angled neater into the caliper.
I know it will work ok but it doesn't look quite right in its position.
Perhaps I've missed something obvious or is everyones tightly angled past the bottom wishbone.

Glad to hear of someone else going rear discs.

Hi Bob,sorry not got round to buying a digi-camera yet, although I do put all my 35mm photos onto CD now but thats slow,so I cant show you any pics
yet.
Yes, my calipers are at the rear, like the hub pics on your photo files.
Have you fitted a bias set up?
I'm just about to fit a mini valve at the rear as my adjustable bias .
Martin Keenan keeps telling me I dont need one ,but I want one anyway for fine adjusting.I think the type of master cylinder affects whether you need
one or not,and I'm using a Caterham master cylinder so I'm not sure where the bias will end up without an adjuster in the circuit.
By the way ,I think I have seen you at the Newark show when I helped MK on the stand.
If its you I'm thinking of you collected some flexi-pipes?
Back to my original problem though,I find that my handbrake cable touches the end of the bush in the bottom wishbone, dont think it will affect it
working but it would be better not pushing against anything.
If nobody knows i'll have a word with Martin next week, plenty of other bits to finish off yet.
Thanks,
Dean.....

Yep probably me,set of braided brake pipes in hand.
Wish i had a £ for every time i was stopped and asked where i got em!!.
Not at the point of thinking about cable for rears,i know i'll have to shorten the one i've got though.
As for brake bias, wanted to keep it all metric as the M/Cylinder is from the sierra.
Using theconrodkids idea of fiat uno bias, its held in a unit made by merlin and can be seen on his photo archive.
Theconrod used this method on his car and set up the braking on his 1st sva test, passed on retest after locknut was welded so tamperproof(stupid isnt
it)
I'll be at donington all weekend so will have a chat if your there, and a beer

Stainless steel not worth it to me,cant see it under the bonnet and my SVA centre want me to wrap the exposed pipe down to the box.
I'll go for mild steel, cheap and cheerful

they look better than nice but i wont be tempted, normal pipes would be a fraction of the price.
I'm sure martin would knock us up a set if i could get hold of him.

When I collected my kit Martin had a stainless exhaust system he was trying to pursuade me to find a new home for. It looked nice but I couldn't
afford the asking price. My old man's a welder so I asked martin if he could supply it in kit form and I'd get my dad to tig weld it. Unfortunately
he has them made by another company so can't do it, but, he can supply al the parts bent up ready for welding in mild steel. He didn't know how much
t charge but I'll have a word with him at Donington.

Sory Dean
We sort of went off on an exhaust pipe route and forgot the plot a bit.
Back to handbrake cable fit,i've seen cars with cable ties on handbrake cables.
sounds a bit bodgy but nobody sees it anyway

Carry on,don't mind me!
My Toyota exhaust for my Indy came from the same place Martin has his stainless ones made, although I bought mine from Mel at Raw Engineering the
Toyota conversion people.
Martins mild steel ones are usually made on his own machine though.Cant say if he's got time or how much so you'll have to see the man himself.
Bye for now. Dean.

We will have a talk with the man himself at donington.
Had a quote from a stainless exhaust builder in nottingham, not much change at all out of £500 and he knows the indy and locost.
MK's price as normal very competitive.
