MK Sportscars new RGB car
Called into MK today, they had a interesting chassis in build, a joint project between Ian Kempson and Danny Keenan to race in next years RGB, it was
far from finished, but heres a few pictures

prototype?
My guess (hope) is that this is just a first prototype to help get everything in the right place. I’m a firm believer in the phrase “if something
looks right, it probably is right!” Unfortunately, currently this doesn’t “Look Right”
Still if the suspension pick-ups are in the right place, and the weight distribution is OK it’ll still work, just possibly not to its absolute
potential. Still if it is a prototype this will probably tell them enough, so until those fundamentals are set you could argue – Why waste time
planning a super neat, super well triangulated chassis, just get something approximate knocked up that will allows them to evaluate things quickly.
It’ll be intresting to see how this project progresses!

I'm not an engineer so please explain why this does not look right. How can you tell from a partially built chassis?
Cheers, Nick

I'm more interested in the white left hooker in the background, (mine). I think IVA may be some distance away.

I can very much see his point. It doesn't, on the face of it, look like a terribly elegant design. The tubes don't seem to follow load
paths; the ladder-type arrangement of the floor level tubes is unlikely to carry the same benefits as if the tubes were triangulated.
I'm definately not an engineer but I don't think you really need to be to have a little understanding of the basic theory.

I wouldn't panic too much if you save the image then zoom in, it looks a lot more finished than at a first glance

No panic Tony. I put in my spec' for the build in early july, but having done a bit of 'chopping and changing' along the way, the
gentle pace of constuction have allowed the changes to be accommodated.
Weather here means no screen or weather gear required, (and february's the driest month of the year).

Looks like a worrying lack of triangulation in the suspension pick up areas to me....

Add to this....
Front wishbone brackets, as designed work well on square tube but really need revising to suit round.
Side diagonals.. X shape unneccesary...corner to corner only is fine.
