Amount of wheel nut turns

Bit of a basic question from a novice builder.

I have some wheels for my Indy R and the nuts that come with them (Tuner style?) only turn just over 4 turns from loose to tight.
Build wheels (Sierra ST) with original nuts use about 7 turns.

Do you think 4 turns is safe enough or should I play safe and get longer wheel studs?
The originals are around 40mm in length.

Cheers
Steve

Stud needs to be at least the length in the thread of the but. Are the nuts blind or open?

You need a lot more treads than that I would get some longer wheel studs .

Rough rule of thumb, the length of the thread should be at least equal to it's diameter

I think the consensus (and the sensible thing to do) seems to be to get some longer studs.

What's the best way to get the originals out? Knock them out with a large hammer or try and press them out?
Had a quick go with a hammer and think it's going to take some effort...

Press is best if you have access to one, but be careful if using a vice as a press

Warm the hub up a bit and they normally come out with a hammer.
