Ebay roll cage
Any thoughts or experiences with this guy?
Looks reasonable to me.

It would seem the spec hes talking about wouldn't be Msa compliant (not doing down to base of chassis)
But could be reading it wrong.
Should be ok for road use but would defo want to see some bona-fide examples of their work.

Just looked at the photos, it does indeed go to base of chasis, and only has one bend (failing point on original mk cages) so does in fact look msa
compliant.

Looks compatible to me, the oddity of the rules allows you to drop the 2" CDS tube onto 1" ERW provided you have a spreader plate.

Where's that noted? Ive only ever seen CDS Quoted in the blue book.

This is a guy who has an Indy of his own, and had difficulty getting a cage elsewhere. He contacted MSA for advice and using his own business
fabricated a cage to satisfy the blue book. He has been offering the deal on FB for some time:

If there is a cheaper compliant alternative, I'd be pleased to know as I'm considering buying one

Caged Westfield cages are cheaper fully powder coated, so you could try them for a quote.

Yes, just re read the website - it is £440 for the half cage alone.
In that case, i'd be better going direct to Mk themselves
They quoted me around £600 supplied and fitted.
Not sure if it is MSA spec though.

Plays-kool do a half cage for the widebody westfield, i would assume it wouldn't be a mile away from fitting an Indy for £260.
Anybody know if it would be anywhere close to fitting an Indy?
£440+vat seems expensive to me with it not being powder coated/painted. It's only 1 bent tube and 2 straight tubes welded together. Maybe I am
just be unrealistic though. If that was a fitted price then fair enough.

The MK ones aren't MSA compliant.
Thats the whole reason this guy is making his own to sell. MK have been using ERW tube for their cages, which is not up to MSA specs
For road/track use it's fine. But for racing you'll need one made from CDS tube (which is a lot more expensive)

Just an observation, the cage is dictated by the blue book along with the base plates and any bolts you use, the car it lands on is not.
When you look at some cage designs that comply the rear stays drop onto the top of the rear tub! Perfectly legal although not the best place to land
it although rear stay angle may force it.
