Duratec Indy driven - Is it the First?
We've just fired up our Indy with a 2.3 Duratec engine running on a MegasquirtnSpark and driven it down the path!
Can I stake claim to being the first one to do one in an Indy?
It's been done locost style with home made sump, low cost throttle bodies etc.
I'd like to thank Alan Wardropper at Scholar, Jon Sharples from Shawspeed for their assistance with the project.
I'll try to post some photos.
Cheers,
Colin

Would be really good if you could give a run down of how you fitted it all together. Well done and I hope to see it sometime.

Thanks for that.
I've put some piccies in my photo's section under Duratec Installation.
I've just got to take the cutter to the bonnet now to let it breathe
Cheers,
Colin

Snoopy,
I made my own engine mounts but am I right in thinking that you're you doing them now?
Are there any more Indy Duratecs on the way?
It's not exactly plain sailing as the cost of off the shelf parts for the installation is prohibitive. That's why I tried to do it the
locost route by fabricating those that I could. The large cost items are throttle bodies & injectors, sump, bellhousing, engine management system,
flywheel & clutch, alternator drive, coolant rerouting, oil filter repositioning.
Regarding steering do you mean routing items past the steering? If so then not really apart from the standard exhaust wanting to pass through the
steering column which can be fixed with a bit of 'technical adjustment'. The normal small alternator tucks nicely out of the way on a new
mount. The lower belt idler comes close but I can reposition that if it causes a problem, moving the engine back a tad would help but that means a new
prop and other mods and summers coming.
Cheers,
Colin
