pinto powered indy. whats the weight?
as title really, just trying to fill out the sva application form but not sure what to put for axle weights? i've read that they weigh in around
the 650kg mark but was talking to a guy at newark the other week with a mac#1 who said his weighed just over 450kgs and i'm pretty sure the
mac#1 and mk aren't all that different
basics are: pinto engine etc, plastic interior panels, MK fibreglass seats and a roughly 6gl tank in the back.
any help much appreciated.
cheers
john

Around 600kg seems to be the going rate. 450kg sounds far too light, as you say the MAC#1 and MK are virtually the same. Are you sure it wasn't
a bike engined car?

The weights that are required on the SVA form are the design weights NOT the actual weights. Just go for 400kg on Axle 1 and 500kg on axle 2.

My pinto weighed in at a portly 700kgs, comfy seats, heavy dash, many chassis reinforcements, still as quick as you could ever want
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

i wonder if the guy who said 450Kg came to that conclusion after adding together the front and rear weights that was measured at SVA??? iirc this is
not the total weight. Also i consider true vehicle weight to be with all fluids in place and full tank of fuel (no driver) - he may have measured dry
with helium in the tyres!!!!
Im hoping to get to 550KG with my Pinto ZR (Minimal interior etc). Might be a tad optimistic but time will tell. I have a couple of grammes i can shed
before worrying about the cars weight though - if i lose 20Kg it will improve power to weight ratio by 7bhp/tonne!!!
