pinto running temps
whats the hottest anyone has had these at without it going pop!?!
at sva today the temp guage was right up at 110 and heading for 120 yet it never boiled up!?! according to the haynes manual for a sierra it's
proper running temp is 88 so i was well over that!
still, shows i've got the system sorted, a couple of weeks back it was boiling over as soon as it hit 95-100

Hmmm. Doesn't sound sorted to me. Sounds like you need to do some more work on the cooling system ... you dont want the engine going that hot.
Normally, if the rad/fan is working properly then it should keep the system at a normal working temp (whatever the thermostatic switch is rated at ...
usually around 80-90c).
What rad / fan are you running, and have you checked the thermostatic switch is working? Does the fan ever switch on? Alternatively, are you sure your
temp guage is correct?
Cheers

As above i would check that your temp gauge and sender are matched,my rad fan comes in well before thast sort of temp and keeps the engine at around
85/90 ish.
It always cuts in before the 100 and to be sure i have a seperate switch so i can get the fan on early in traffic,i did this because i found that when
hot the old pinto just doesnt pull.

i personally suspect it's a dodgy sender or gauge, i've never known a engine to run that hot and not go pop!
i've got a micra rad fan and it's constantly on as i'm too lazy to wire a switch in for it
can;t be a sticky thermo stat as i took that out to eliminate that when it kept boiling up
