pinto alternator bracket and gbox mounting

My alternator bracket fouls the lower steering shaft. Are peeps making up
their own brackets or is there another
pinto bracket that can do the job?
Also I notice that when I dropped the engine in the engine slopes forward
and the back end of the gear box sits
up. Is it best to put the gear box mounting
under the brackets on the car and put spacers in or is there another method?

Measured the height from floor to centre of nut on dif and then set gearbox out put shaft the same height i think i've got half inch spacers between the two.
alternator seems to be a common problem and most people seem to use a a small mitsubishi one see photo in cairb photo gallery

tony
