fuel guage sender unit

ive just purchased a mk indy blade,

and its got no fuel guage!!

what sender units do you guys use??

I use a VDO gauge and dip tube sender. Not the cheapest and you need the sender matched to your tank depth. Plus points are the gauge is very well damped and more linear than a swing arm sender. Also you can pack your tank with foam more easily if required.

I got mine from Merlin Motorsport.

Rich, on our Blade engined Indy we had no gauge. Just simply worked out how many miles it would do on a full tank and reset trip every time we filled up. If you want something more sophisticated..... use a stick

Hellfire does this not cause a problem with the sva man. I was lead to believe that you should be able to see the contents of the tank. ( The gauge must read full and the tank must be full.) Is what i was actually told.
Have i actually mis-interpreted the information?

SVA man didnt check my fuel level. He just asked me how much was in. I said it was full when i set off and ive driven 45 miles - he was happy with that.

2 things they check for - no leaks and sufficient fuel to complete test. I could have fell foul on the leaks bit but he was Ok with me.

I have been told that if you have guage fitted then you can earth it out to read full. Otherwise if no gauge take a suitable dip stick so you can prove full. As awlays if in doubt call them so they can confirm what they prefer.

On the sender front - i fitted the ETB sender that came with DD2. Its a bit fiddly to set up but works OK.
