Starter Motor problems!
Hi All - Hoping you can help!
Currently building an MK Indy based around a 2l Pinto engine. The loom has come from Premier Wiring.
I am trying to get the starter motor to turn but with no joy....
The business end of the solinoid has three conectors : The one closest to the side of the car is direct to the battery +ve. The one closest to the
engine is direct to the starter motor. The smaller connector in the middle has the ignition wire on it. The other end of the solinoid (where it
attaches to the bell housing) has a good earth connection.
I've been probing with my multimeter (!) and have got 12v down the ignition wire when the key is turned to position 3. The battery is charged,
yet there is nothing out of the solinoid output. What am I doing wrong - Please help! (Feel free to be as basic with instructions as you wish!)

sounds like solenoid stuck, can happen if you have washed the motor or its been standing, give it a whack with a hammer or put a screwdriver across the
2 big terminals
who cares who wins

UPDATE -
Removed starter motor and built a test circuit away from the car.
With a "short" between battery +ve and the ignition input , nothing happens.
Shorting the two large terminals results in big sparks and the motor runs.
I guess this means it is just the solinoid that is not working, not the whole solinoid/starter assembly. Does any one know of companies (around
Birmingham) who can do help with replacements?
