Feeling hot hot hot
Finished putting it all back together on Friday and was out most of Saturday, probably did c100 miles in the Indy.
Great fun it has to be said, drew lots of thumbs up and a few waves as I blatted through the Berkshire/Hants/Wilts countryside.
However, after a short stop, a hot start had the water pump squealing a bit at start and dreadful misfiring under any sort of load. Once the revs
dropped off in 4th & 5th it was fine and a mile or so on the misfiring became less & less.
The car is black and it just absorbed the heat of the sun yesterday, water and oil temps were all normal and the thermostat kept kicking in to bring
the fan on so its not as if its overheating.
Apart from a re-shell in white or silver to deflect the suns heat will a new bonnet with a scoop help pull a bit more air in? Is it worth a try?

Only sumising but the car has been on the road a few years before you bought it and it evidently hasn't been a problem for the previous owner.
I'd suggest checking all the leads as could have just been intermittent or electrical. If all temps were ok I wouldn't worry about it
myself if there was a prob it was probably something else imho.

just to be annoying, a reshell in white or silver would be worse if a car has an over heating problem, this is because while black is a good absorber
of heat, its also a good emitter, hence it will cool down quickly.
on the other hand, white or silver is a good reflector of heat, its also a poor emitter, hence if ur car over heats a silver or white car will retain
the heat more than a black one.
this is one of the reasons why good kettles are silver! sorry if thats anal, i doubt it reallt matters in the real world, but any extra cooling u can
get to the engine bay can't hurt.

Alternator belt was loose  runs peachy now, thanks Snoopy would have taken me a while to eliminate other things.
Drove it to parents evening last night at my lads school, a minor public school outside Newbury. Parked amongst those revolting Porsche Cayennes,
911's a couple of Astons and a 360 was my little black Indy.
More dads round my car than any of the other supercars in the school car park
