Hey guys, i'm new and i need some help!!!

hi everyone, this is my first post and i'm looking for a bit of help. I'm building a Indy with a 2.0l pinto and i reckon i'm about 30% of the way through the build.

i'm just about to start installing the cooling system but i'm not sure the best way to go about it, what componants to use etc.
Does anybody have and pictures or diagrams that would help me? From what i've read so far, an old polo rad would be best?? What about the expansion tank?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers, Dan

I used a micra rad WITHOUT an expansion tank.

the top of the rad connects to the top of the engine. the bottom of the rad connects to the bottom of the engine. and the little hose connector above the big bottom one connects to the carb having been routed under the exhaust headers and over the bell housing. its all connected together using numerous different sizes of samco hoses

See this thread for a source of cheap new polo rads. They also do micra rads but they are much more expensive!

I'd be wary of using a second hand rad personally, but many have got away with it.

Pinto, micra rad and no expansion tank for me too.

The only mod since is piping the rad cap overflow to a pop bottle as it had a tendancy to blow water out. Been fine since.

Get a decent fan and maybe fit bypass switch in case you need it on in traffic for a bit more cooling.

I got all of my fittings and Samco hoses from mac#1 - look great.

I have some pics in my archive. It's donut not dounuts!!

I used a micra rad, westfield top rad mounts (bottoms i made myself) Cooling tubes were flexy type from Halfrauds, Bottom hose i think was Cortina but can't be certain. Header tank was Astra. Hope this helps.
