mk deluxe starter kit
i was going to get a tiger avon kit until i found this forum and you guys have convinced me to get an mk instead . i have a few questions .
i think i have decided on a bike engine zx9 or zx12 do mk cater for both or just the zx9
how long will it take me to build everything in the kit up to the point where i will have to spend more cash .
on the mk web site it says there are parts that must be exchange units is it worth paying for not exchanging or should i buy a cheap or free car and
scrap it .
what other parts will i need before the engine goes in i hope to have it ready for the engine next may or june does this seem realistic as i have no
experience building cars .
can i fit rear discs just for the ease of changing pads .
do they deliver or will i have to hire a van and drive down ,and is it worth buying the locost builder book.
Thanks Scotf
what tools are a must i have
hacksaw
hammer
socket set
spanners
and you get a rivet gun with the kit

Hi scotf,
1. I haven't heard of a ZX12 being fitted, but martin did say when we were going to order ours that if they didn't do a mounting frame for
our choice of engine, if we left the engine with them they would mount it.
2. It is only the front uprights and steering rack that you swap, so if you are going for a BEC, then just source the bits you need rather than the
car. Its probably no cheaper but you don't have to store the car then scrap it.
3. If you go the zx9 route then there is no need to get the engine for a while, but from our expierence, it wont take you 12 months before you are
ready to fit the engine. . Just remember you cant do the prop, gear change and hence finish the tunnel, electrics , cooling system, clutch or
throttle until the engine is in.
4. You can fit rear discs and calipers if you order the correct rear uprights with no problem.
5. Its woth going up to collevt the kit as you get to see other cars in various states of build. It is possible to put the chassis on a roof rack (as
we did), so there is no need for a van/trailer
6. I haven't got the book.
7. you dn't get a rivet gun, you get a rivnut tool. I would buy the best rivet gun you can as you are going to be doing a lot of it!
best of luck
