Best wheel offset for Mk Indy ?
mine and greggors84's indy is in the pipeline and im about to order the wheels were going for 15" OZ super leggaras with profile 50 tyres,
i know they are sierra fitment but i dont know what would be the best offset, should i get the same offset that would be on the sierra alloys that the
donner car would come with or it is better to get a slightly different offset, any adive would be much appritiated

i hope i'm right in saying that the correct offset for the indy is et35-8 for a standard width (6.5"?) rim, the larger width you go you
might need to change this so the rim doesn't hit any of the rear arch or stick out to far.
Its been discussed before and someone has used those wheels IIRC though not sure if it was on an indy....

You can only get OZ supel L's in offset 38 and they are 7" rims. I don't think its a problem, anyway you can always add a small
spacer if need. I am going to order the same wheels, but i am going to actually measure the offset required on our car next week.
Just wondered, does it make a difference to the offset if you are running discs or drums?
Where are you getting the OZ's from? Have you found somewhere that has some in stock now? I would appreciate a tip off! How much have you been
quoted? I have been told by a company near me that they can get them (not sure if i believe them though) and will supply them for £152 each including
YOKO A539's. Maybe if we ordered 8 between us we could get a bigger discount?

Yeah 8 would be good
Longton motor accesories in stoke is where i was going to buy them from they said i could have Toyo proxes or Yoko rubber from £545 but they would
have to order them
Halfords STafford would do them for £550 with Hankook tyres
I am going to be buying them from Stoke shop most likely, its a family run place.

be careful out there folks a 38 offset on a 6 ain't the same as a 38 on a 7 the key word is ford focus martin used standard focus so if standard
for a focus is 7 then your laughing I'm using tsw razors on a 6 with 38 and the outside edge is tight with the mudguard

Isn't the offset the distance between the back face of the wheel and it's centreline? Therefore it doesn't matter how wide the rim
is the offset stays the same?

It's the other way round. The wider the rim the more offset you need. The problem is that the wheel rim must not be outside the rear wheel arch
edge or SVA fail. The Ford Focus wheels are 6" I think, a 7" rim would therefore need to have about another 12 points of offset.

OK, read the tyresave website explanation and still am, if not confused then given food for thought. I would have assumed that as width was added to
the rim it was added evenly aty both sides, thus keeping the offset consistent bu I suppose that manufacturers don't work like that eh?
Whilst on the subject, does anyone know if steel Mondeo wheels are OK to use on an Indy as they are or will I need spacers? I've already got
them as they were very reasonable and had 5 good tyres with them, but will have to look elsewhere if you think they'll be no good. Anybody?

ok i'll try and explain in inches not into this metric crap draw a line 6 inches long now mark the centre. put another mark 1 inch to the right
of centre that is the offset for a 6 inch wheel.... now draw a line 7 inches long and mark the centre put another mark 1 inch to the right of
centre ( the offset). now if you line up the right hand edges you will find the left hand edge of the rim is now 1 inch to the now look at were
you're 7 inch offset mark is it's all vee#ry confusing

Oh god.... I'm stupid.
Going to buy 14" wheels, 6 inches wide. Can choose the offset. want the wheel/tyre to finish just within the outer edge of my wheels.
What do I choose?

I used 16" Superlegs (7" wide) with 41 et offset, fit absolutley perfectly. More luck than judgement as i ordered 38 offset but they
couldn't find them. Bought from Maps Trading a year ago for £680 including toyo prox tyres 195x45. Hope it helps!!
