attaching front wing stays?
Morning
could anyone confirm how much disassembly is required to fit the stays for the front wings?
I only looked at this for the forst time last night and the front hubs, track rods etc are all attached and I suspect some bits are going to need
removing but would prefer clarification before wading in.
Also what size nylok nut is used to attached the bottom of the hub to the lower suspension as I'm going to need to replace them with new to fit
the stays.
If anyone could supply a quick description of the order to do things for fitment I'd be grateful.
Thanks
Nigel

Hi there
If I re-call only two bolts for the MK wing stays:
Pinch bolt on the top of the sierra upright and the lower balljoint nut, again if the nuts are already tightened and using nylocs, you should use new
nuts.
Cheers

You should be able to get the stays on without dismantling anything - it takes a bit of twisting and wiggling though. Although I had already bent the
flat sections roughly into shape first.
Once you have them bolted in place you can use a length of pipe or a block of wood against the tyre to help bend the flats into the right shape, by
offering up the wing to check for fit.
IMHO it's a pig of a job and difficult to get both sides looking right and the same as each other. I had to cut some slots into the inner side
lip of the wings to get the wing sat centrally over the tyre and allow the stays to curve in and clear the tyre. I think later MK wings have a small
bulge designed in to get over this problem though.
Also remember that you'll need to fit U trim to the edges of the wings for SVA so make sure this won't foul the tyres.
