Purley or Surrey Owners

After weeks of research it looks like the MK Indy is the car for apart from two factors.

BEC - Is this exactly what I expect, noise, sence of occasion, speed, ride quality and gear changes

Size/Space - Can my pins actually fit under the dash and column?

So, before I trek up to the West Mids to further my investigations and make my order with a builder, would any local owners be able to show me round the MK Indys Blades/R1's?

Many thanks for ZXRLocost & Shortie for your help thus far.

Many thanks

Kriss

The guy that it's worth speaking to is Desyboy, he has a lovely R1 powered Indy and is near Purley.

Hope that helps,
Rich.

and i have a big pile of c*** you can look at in my garage!

Didn't Desyboy show you his car already? His Indy is now tucked away in someone elses garage for the winter.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Managed to blag 20 ish laps in the passenger seats of a fazer mk indy today at brands.

not as fast as i thought it would be at all, but my oh my do i want one.

think i might be too bloody tall though. with the seat all the way back my knees were tucked up behind the steering wheel!

The performance of a BEC with an older engine and a big passenger isn't that great. A fast car becomes merely a quick one when the power to weight ratio is diluted so much further. But 20ish pax laps is a great intro to the scene. My hat goes off to whomever that was, I'd never have been that generous

It sounds like you have long legs so you'll be compromised in any car but with the right mods I'm sure you can make yourself comfortable. For example, you could fit a moulded race seat or modify the pedal box. If you've never owned a kit before it takes a while before you realise how personal each car is to its' owner. You'll just be putting your mark on whatever you buy/build to suit yourself.
