et38 7"wide wheels will fit with 205 tyres.

you'll need to take all the return off your back arches though.

as most will say though, if you're still at the thinking about it stage, don't!

if i had my time again i'd build around 13" wheels, 15" at a maximum. 13s don't exactly suit the slightly taller indy sides compared to a locost, but will make it much more pleasant to drive. tyres are cheaper and lighter, wheels are lighter and you have more choice of proper performance tyres.

if i had the money and time, i'd go to 13" wheels on mine, but i'd need to remake the cycle wing stays and the set i have took long enough to make! the back arches would probably want fiddling too.

If the only reason you're going for 17's is because you've got some tyres, then can I suggest you: -

- sell the tyres on fleabay
- buy some 13 or 15 wheels with suitable tyres

Yes you may have some tyres now, but eventually you'll wear them out and need more - and they'll cost a premium.

Unless you're particularly going for aesthetics then ditch the tyres
