Indy damper bolts
Hi all,
Just building up the suspension at the moment and the supplied bolts for the mounting the coilover dampers are M12. However, the Indy build article in
Which Kit Car reckons that they should be 1/2".
Who's fitted what? I've used the M12's so far, but it's now niggling at me...!
Thanks

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have some MK trailing arms. Fitted them to the chassis with 12mm bolts and yup there's just a bit of freeplay.
So I guess they're supposed to be half inch as well. Think I'll just make some new one's as they're longer than the book
ones anyway.

If they are done up tight (car on the ground) I doubt it matters, the tube in the damper should be compressed, and it's the compression that
holds it in place.. The bolt should not be use as a point of rotation for the bush, only the rubber should twist...
Mine are M12, 8.8.

Thanks everyone - I'll pick up a set of 1/2" bolts tomorrow. At this early stage, I might as well not risk it later.
Robocog, I'll be avoiding your MOT man!!

Its not the MK kit its the dampers Gaz dampers have a 1/2 inch bore so use 1/2 inch bolts with shoulder, other dampers may use 12mm not sure as i only
have gaz shocks. measure and use what is the best fit. remember also only use grease which has no mineral base (eg silicon push bike grease on the
plastic bushes)

You can get inserts from Dampertech to reduce from 1/2 inch to 12mm
