Mk and polo rad.

Hi guy, a quick question with regards to rad sizes on the MK Indy. I looked at fitting my spare Renault 5 rad into the nose of my indy and found it too high, but for some reason didn’t think of mounting it sideways. But am not at home and need to know if it will fit. For all those with the POLO rad how much room is at either side of it on the MK? The polo rad show to be 430 x 322 and my Renault one is 550 x 270.

If the polo rad is a tight fit I then know I have no chance of using mine. I can then order a polo one today and if in stock have it in the morning.

Cheers.

ps, does the polo rad have a vent? i need one that hasnt got one if possible.

Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.

Polo rad is a tight fit, you might have about 20mm/30mm or so to spare in width (might be less, depends what angle, if you put a fan on the front or back etc..)..

The polo rad has a vent, just blank it if off you don't want it (it's difficult to get a pipe on anyhow because of clearance)..

cheers, luckily for me a friend has an account with them so has ordered both polo rads and can sent the unwanted one back.

nice discount too,

380 core is GSF part no. 17321B = £31
430 core is GSF part no. 17322 = £37

i will blank off the vent as you say. Im going to stick my old fan on the back for now which is a tiny bike fan. I will go larger if it cant hold the temps, but even the smaller polo rad is almost twice as large as the one currently fitted so should make a huge difference to my hot running problems.

Cheers

Don't blank the vent off for bike engined instalation you need it to vent the rad back to the header tank on both my blade & R1. mine is the 380 x 320 core

technically it's not a vent it's an overflow hence it run to the header tank which in turn drains into the bottom radiator hose

I don't suppose you have a wiring diagram for the regulator/rectifier just acquired one but it has no plug so I dont know were each of the 6 wires go would like to try and use it to replace the one off the blade (they keep burning out) theres only 5 on the blade
cheers
