Fitting quickrack kit to MK shortened rack
I know the quickrack kits need to be cut down and re-tapped to fit the shortened rack but was just wondering if there's anything complicated in
fitting it. Does the rack casing have to be split at the joint at all or do you just slide the old rack out the end and slide the new one in? Any
other advice?

The quickrack is easy to fit in the shortened casing. Simply remove the slipper plug, then loosen and remove the pinion nut, together with the pinion.
Slide the old rack out and the new quickrack in. Replace the pinion, tighten the pinion nut and then screw in the slipper plug. Don't screw the
slipper up too tight though.

Excellent, sounds nice and easy. Excuse my ignorance but what's the slipper plug?
Also, I notice RalDes do Quaife ones (quoted as 2.8 turns) and what look like 'own brand' (quoted as 2.7 turns). Is there any real
difference in quality or any reason I should choose one over the other? Are there any other suppliers?

Here's a diagram of the Sierra Rack.
I'm not too sure of differences in quality between quickracks or suppliers. We bought ours from MK already cut to length. I can't remember
how much it cost but we did shop around and they were the cheapest supplier at the time.
