handling
my lard powered indy,when you accelerate or back off from full power the back seems to step sideways,any ideas?

Hi
Have you had the cars corner weights set? As i no it can make the car lurch under braking if on side is heavier

as you give it large the rear seems to go to the left,on shut down to the right,but with the front doing the steering as it were,used sensibly its as
straight as a die.goes round corners like its on rails,there is no play that i can see anywhere,havnt had corner weights done just set up level all
round(5"

had a worn bush on one of my traling arms on my f27 gave the same effect as you describe, it was allowing the axle to move out of line, replaced it
and no more snaked snakey issues.
not something to affect an IRS though, just my 2 penneth worth.

nope syd no lsd,im out on sunday for a long run so ill try to get some more info at what speeds etc,its only since ive got a bit more power from the
engine that ive noticed it.
no binding brakes and no play that i can see anywhere front or rear,all the bushes were new 1000 miles ago so shouldnt be that

It's a problem we get quite often at work, the new Polo Gti is particularly prone to it, VW increased the torque on the front subframe bolts to
the extent where you have to put a 10' scafold bar on the torque wrench to get the leverage. Renault 19's do it all the time, due to the
bushing arrangement on the subframe - but Renault could not gve a poo so no remedy.
The problem does sound like a toe/camber change related to torque - think you have a soggy bush in the rear wishbones
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Ive had this when the parts were in a former life on the jelly mould with a friends car. He used to drive his motor all the time when we went to work
however he was too pi****d one morning to drive and I drove this car instead. the backend was all over the place. He had just learnt to drive around
the problem and never gave it a thought. And wait for it......worn wheel bearings put in with the wrong grease/torque we suspect.
When we jacked the R/R the wheel flopped down. Worth a look
What about springs damper settings too hard?

tried damper settings,strangley the harder you set them the better it handles,i dont think its anything loose/hanging off as it corners on rails and
goes in a straight line no probs,its like torque steer,maybee its TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much power?

Crankshaft,
I asked the man himself on Saturday. He said he'd had this problem on a car and it was cured by changing the rear tires.
He said to try swapping them over with the fronts and see what effect it has.

had a play today,although the roads were dry there just wasnt any traction,wheels spinning everywhere so unable to give it any large,so maybee thats
