Should I really have to trim my Indy bonnet???

I've been sorting to bonnet clips today and am alarmed to find that with the nose and scuttle on the indy bonnet is about 10mm short of closing on top of the chassis rail. I've noticed the return lip if the nose stands a little proud where it meets the chassis rail so I could trim a bit there and the bonnet also has a small return lip. Has anyone else had to trim their bonnet?? Just a bit gutted as the front and rear shut lines look really nice and neat at the moment.

a little trim and adjustment is standard

after all its not a caterham

Yeah I thought that might be the case, I should have left the scuttle where it was (a bit too far back) as it fit spot on then!!

In answer to your question... IMHO, no - you shouldn't have to!

It's not as if you're paying pennies for the kit! If you're paying thousands, then I think it's reasonable to want pieces of plastic that fit!

I agree. I think for the money it should fit. I have the same with my Luego bodywork. My only tip is to take it easy rubbing the excess off and don't use a Dremel or owt, it gets too hot and blisters the gel coat.

they might fit with mnr, they dont with mk, put a new bonnet on mine a couple of weeks ago and was suprised that after parting with 165 quid i then had to take the grinder to it to get a flush fit !!

Ah.. I fitted the nosecone first, then laid the bonnet on, and fitted the Scuttle so that there was not fettling needed. It fits very well.

I suspect even Cateringvans have to have some fettling. As the fixing holes arent drilled, and the owner could put one bit slightly out of alignment, thus needing to fettle the adjoining part.

Just my 2d's worth.

as has been said, even by the OP, the scuttle's in the wrong place.

both of my bonnets fitted fine.

Surely the scuttle can only go in one place! Where the bodywork creases should line up with the rear of the scuttle???

ah, sorry, i misread your post. yes, your scuttle is in the right place. in which case, you could pack your nosecone out a touch?

mine's on hinges so i packed the hinges to where it fit.

however, it should fit, but it depends how hard you want to argue with MK. It took me ages to get my side panels sorted after finding most of the rear corners was a thin layer of gelcoat hiding a massive void
