low level sump
hi guys, recently bought an indy.....all this kit car stuff is new to me and my knowledge is minimal to say the least.....looking underneath the car
front to back i notice the era shallow sump fitted and further aft the bell housing hanging slightly lower ...inside i can see the teeth on ??? the
flywheel is it? my first concern is as i drive forwards what about the road grit etc that could enter the bell housing??....its a 2 litre zetec and
the builder used the shallow sump i would imagine to gain extra ground clearance....is this ok with how its mated to the gearbox??? help !! gary

hi and welcome
I dont think there should be and holes in between the bellhousing and engine, i would make a cover panel which can be bolted to the bellhousing so
nothing can get in and ruin you clutch or whatever.

The sump will be fine but get yourself a cover plate for the flywheel, this is for a jag
but it will give you some idea of wht you need to stop greasy road grim and oil(if you have a leak) from getting on the clutch

Make a cardboard template then cut one out of alloy sheet, its just to keep the crap out, if there are no bolt holes to pick up on stick it on with
silicon it will go off overnight job done.
oh, welcome.

Put your location in you details area.
This is Locost builders, don't pay money to a garage unless you really really have to.
There are loads of friendly people on here that can help you

I ran a Mk1 Escort without one for 4 years and never had a problem but would make one from aluminium just for peace of mind. Put your location in your
profile and someone will have something for the job and not want lots of money like a garage, or get under there with the template like Jon says and
get the snips out, time to start learning new skills and feel satisfied you have had some input into the car besides throwing money at it.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
