FAO MK INDY
I recently purchased a fully built MK Indy and am delighted with it. I have been driving it now for 5 months but it lacks the feeling of power.
It currently has a standard 1.8 pinto engine and I was hoping you could provide me with some price options for engine conversions.
From pinto to zetec?
From pinto to bike engine?
My everyday car is a Nissan 200sx and I would be interested to see what a 200sx engine performs like in the INDY

Cheaper and easier to go for a 2ltr Zetec I think. A nicely tuned one will keep up with or be faster than a BEC once you get up some speed and I think
it will put your Nissan to shame. Easy conversion as the gearbox is the same.

try and get a run in both a powerful zetec car and a BEC and see what you think..
your looking at around £1500 to do a bike engine swap for a blade or R1
a example list to consider ....
engine + loom etc
exhaust manifold
prop change
prop adaptor
rev counter
possible new bonnet or scoop.(if yours has cutout)
anybody see anything I've missed..?

cheers guys,
had run in my mates fireblade and its quick, very quick, just sure i could live with the no reverse and gearbox over the traitional car gearbox but
maybe its just a case of getting used to them.
What about tuned 2.0 l pinto's are they an option?

2l pinto is an option but I reckon you'd be much better going either Zetec if you want to stay with a car engine or the bike route, either
Fireblade or R1.

Tuned Pinto is definitely an option
But then I would say that
I have not spent silly money but I have close to 150 BHP at the wheels which I guess will give quite a few cars a run for their money.
Cheers

Pinto is ok
I have fitted a bored out pinto 2.1 from Vulcan, but beware of the cost. I read an article that stated that it is more expensive to tune an older
engine such as the pinto over fitting a newer engine that can be chipped. i spent over £3k on a "new 165bhp pinto" when a zetec or duratec
with an after market EFI system might set you back £2.5k
You will be able to work more your self on the older engine, unless you are an electronics wizkid.
since you have a pinto another tuned pinto would be a straight swap. it is worth considering that most of the later type of engines have been fitted
into FWD cars and the swaps are not that straight foward, but not that difficult either.
hope i have not confused the issue. if i chose again i would go for a 2.3ltr out of an old scorpio and fitted an after market EFI for more power.

Mmmmmm I love the taste of soap.
Personal choice, i want to use my car for commuting to and from work, I'm bored of the GTi hothatch thing and the MPV thing is a non starter.
How about a 350cu chevy V8 in a Black and flamed 1932 model B ford roadster?
dare to be different.
