new builder
Hi everyone Im going to see Mk next week about one of there kits and shall no doubt be ordering..
I have used the search aswell to gather some info.. and looked at sites etc
could you tell me please have many actually used there locost kit as opossed to there slightly dearer kits? everyone mentions the indy but not there
995 pound package?
Im going to be fitting a bike engine do I have to use a blade engine or can I use others without to much hassle (as this will all be a learning curve
to me).
any advice from anyone about anything to do with the kit would be great...
I currently have a 300zx TT swb which is a 5 seconds to 60 car but with it being AUTO you just dont get the same feeling although I still love it!
thanks
Chris
anyone got any decent vid links of BEC's just to get me dreaming...

Welcome to the family m8
The Indy is a well sorted and a genuine quality piece of Kit - you'll not hear much said about how bad they are. Welding, plastics and general
quality is very good - for the price, it is brilliant.
To be honest there are not many locost kits around - this is due to the reasonable prices that you can get a manufactured chassis from MK MNR GTS
MACH#! Apparently the hassle of manufacturing one leaves little to be desired, but if it floats your boat then respect to you!
Regarding the choice of engines... the blade is probably still the most popular choice as it is very well proven, the ZX9's are quite popular
but lately the R1's are becoming the engine to have. MK's Indy has the following engine's which I have seen.
HONDA 'blade of all types to 2002
YAMAHA - R1 (and derivatives ie Fazer), FJ
KWAK - ZZR ZX9 ZX12
SUZUKI - Hayabusa
Suzuki's don't tend to like mounting the engine laterally.... and throw the shell's.
To be fair in standard trim there isn't much difference between whatever engine you go for unless it's large output.
The Datsun (ah-hem) Nissan you have is a wooly big machine. Forget everything about comfort and torque - these will bring a smile to your face like
you have never known!
We have a few video's on our site - soon to be updated... hope you have broadbeans!
Again - welcome to the forum - hope you enjoy the friendly banter!!!
Give us a shout - we'll no-doubt be there. At least two of our team are every Saturday Morning from 10:30'ish...

Hi
I know nothing about the Locost, having only had the benefit of Indy ownership.
What I do know is that the CBR1000 is a good motor and a lot cheaper. Similar power to carb Fireblade, but heavier.
Still manages to hunt Megablades down no problem - dynojet and filters may help that though.
Good luck!

I'm probably biased but I think it's superb value for money.
The guys who built my MK bought a cheap, low mileage bike for £550 all in - a spare engine (which is in my garage just in case) cost just £350!
Can't go wrong! Oh, and it goes like stink.
