TV Quiz
As I had insomnia last night I ended up watching one of those stupid TV Quizzes, where they have a puzzle on screen and people phone up and guess the
answer. Of course its a premium rate number and hardly anyone gets through.
Last night I was watching one and was positive i knew the answer but held back from temptation, I was about to try and get to sleep when someone
called in and gave the answer I thought was right. When they said it was wrong i had to stay up until someone got the answer right, in the end no one
got it right, but luckily they gave the answer at the end and it was no where near what i expected and no where near what anyone else had guessed.
Obviously they make it a little harder and not too obvious.
The question was as follows:
ADD THE NUMBERS
1. DAYS IN A LEAP YEAR
2. MINUTES IN HALF AN HOUR
3. PLAYERS IN A DOUBLES TENNIS MATCH
4. PLAYERS IN A FOOTBALL TEAM
Ill let you give me some answers, but im pretty sure no one will get it, unless they were watching. Then ill give you the answer they gave, but i
really need someone to tell me how they got there.
Obviously these questions are made up to give the maximum possible number of correct answers so everyone has a guess.

Simon, your total comes to 411, but that was my initial thought, but it must have been too simple. As most people must be thinking along the same
lines i was, a hint to get people thinking differently the answer has 4 figures.

4,356
taking the roman numerals out of the words;
M=1000
D=500
L=50
I=1
Or 6,356 if the ADD THE NUMBERS is included
ADD THE NUMBERS (2000)
1. DAYS IN A LEAP YEAR 551
2. MINUTES IN HALF AN HOUR 1052
3. PLAYERS IN A DOUBLES TENNIS MATCH 1602
4. PLAYERS IN A FOOTBALL TEAM 1151

Does it include the 411 as well, so it'd be 4767 or 6767?

6785 (but then i cant count!)
+ 366
+ 30
+ 4
+12
= 7187
If you want to be clever you could change all the U's to V's as in proper latin. The you would get an even higher number. I just cant be
bothered!

1. DAYS IN A LEAP YEAR 551
2. MINUTES IN HALF AN HOUR 1052
3. PLAYERS IN A DOUBLES TENNIS MATCH 1602
4. PLAYERS IN A FOOTBALL TEAM 1151
so
1 is DIL, so 549
2 is MIIL, 1048
3 is LIDLIM, 500?
4 is LILLM , 849?
total 2946?
plus the 431 would be 3377

Thats -
1. DAYS IN A LEAP YEAR = 1. 366 = 1366
2. MINUTES IN HALF AN HOUR = 2. 30 = 230
3. PLAYERS IN A DOUBLES TENNIS MATCH = 3. 4 = 34
4. PLAYERS IN A FOOTBALL TEAM = 4. 11 = 411
1366 + 230 + 34 + 411 = 2041
Pleeeeeeease ?????

Looks like Oily is getting there.
Dont forget the C = 100 in Roman Numerals too. Where does the 431 come from? I worked out 421 without the numerals or is that plus the ten from
tennis?
The answer was 3777, so im pretty sure this is how they must have got it.
I did think about numerals, but i didnt think there was enough of them, i was only thinking of I V X C and M none of the other ones that have been
mentioned.
