Pinto alternator
For those of you with pintos which alternator did you use?
If you didn't use the standard pinto one how did you mount it and which belt did you use?
Cheers

I used a nissan micra Mk1 alternator. MAC#1 fabricated a custom bottom bracket & I got a custom top adjsuter bracket made up.
For the belt I used a length of string and looped it around the drives and went to halfords/motor spares plave and got a v belt to the correct length.
It took me a couple of times to get the correct length and it was fun in Halfords explaining to the guy that he wont have my make in his computer
(much to his annoyance) and then having him trying to explain to me that I CANT use a nissan alternator with a ford engine "it simply wont
work". When I asked him to think what an alternator is and does, and he realised that its just a motor and that it charges the battery he
realised that as long as you wire it up correctly it doesnt matter whos alternator you use.

Same as Jos. Works very well. HB850a drive belt worked for me (Halfords). I decided not to get into a discussion with their technicians. i bought a
couple and took the wrong one back without a problem.

I used one off a Mitsibushi Colt, i think its a bit bigger than some but still fits in there ok. If you look at the V belts in Halfords the length is
the in the part number in mm. Although i had to buy a couple as i wasnt sure if the length refered to the outside or inside length and sorry i cant
remember which it was in the end! Im pretty sure its the outside length so make sure you measure round the pullies with a thick bit of string or wire
as if you do it with a thin bit it sits in the pully to deep.
All pretty simple stuff but it took me a couple of attempts!
Oh and for the mounts i got a westfield kit off someone from here, but they arnt cheap from westfield for a couple of bits of welded metal.
