Sender for PTM fuel tank

I know this is a stupid question but what type sender goes in one of PTM's tanks went to demon tweeks on saturday to get a set of TIM clocks oil pressure, amp-meter, water temp and fuel with sender even took tank so as there would be no cock ups, and was told I would have to have the sender specially made by Tim is this correct (I don't think so myself) as the tank was taller than most car tanks. any ideas what sender off what vehicle will fit. and can I still use this TIM fuel gauge
Thanks for any input
Tony

I spoke to MK today and they do a universal sender that has a piece you cut to fit the tank you have, they also said that some people go for the sender made by the people that make the gauges they are using but that looks to be a bit costly for you give them a phone of perhaps locodude can help?

Durite do a very nice universal one that will do a tank up to 500mm deep so the guy is talking out of his arse. Available from most auto electrical factors about £16.

sender for ptm fuel tank

a sierra fuel sender can be made to fit, the float needs to be bent downwards to reach the bottom of tank. Best of all it comes free with donor!

Only thing to check is what resistance the guage is set for or the full/empty readings will be wrong. Whoever makes the guage should be able to tell you. I fitted one from Greenguages last night no problems. It is 10-180 ohm unit.

Does anyone know what the resitance settings are on the original sierra unit? I'd like to get a durite sender but need to know if it is compatible with the original sierra fuel guage.
