MK Indy Clutch/Acelerator cables

Can anyone post some pics of how they've fixed the cables to the peddles, particularly what they've done about the tubes that stick out from the footwell.

I've seen what Hellfires done on the website and it's far too big and clever for my means (I have a blunt screwdriver and a rusty socket set to my name only!).

Just wondering how everyone else has tackled this point

ok Im trying to remember from memory first of all accelerator cable get some cheap bicycle cable that will be fine youll need a removeable nipple end this is best at the accelerator end.

your best of getting bits from www.zoomkarts.co.uk

you need a U braket which pivots on the bottom of the peddle with a little bolt holding it in place

then in the metal tubes I put some thick fuel hose which squeezed down there a treat and put a small self tapper in from underneath

it then leaves a smaller hole for the cable

with the cable I got some adjuster bits of all the bike cables I had lying around from the r1 unscrewed them and put a load washer pushed this down the fuel hose the washer would stop it from going any further about 1 inch stuck out the in the fotwell

then pushed the outer bike cable into the washer end and slid the inner cable through

does that help

Oops - forgot to mention it's for an R1 engine!

Thanks for that, helps a fair bit - wouldn't mind a piccy if you have one availabe (speaks a thousand words and all that!).

My main concern was that you need the adjustment (as on bikes, the screw down adjusters on the cables to keep them taught), and also stopping the cables from moving around in the tubes too much (in case they terminate their life early and at an inconvenient point!).

I'd seen the little ali tophats on the Hellfire car, but I just don't have the means by which to achieve this - cramming a fuel pipe and shoving a washer on top sounds far less work intense and a lot cheaper too!

Just checked Zoom Karts - really cheap too!

Thanks,

Steve

sorry mate cant find pics

I never had any adjusters on mine and they were fine

on the motor bike cables theres the adjuster which has got about 4 inches of outer sleeve coming off it

this goes down the fuel hose with your screwed on washer

then you push your new outer cable into the washer end of the adjuster thing

and slide your metal cable through nipple at the carb end and removeable nipple throttle end
