My pre build BEC mot is on monday!
i should really ask Tim c, but i thought i would offer the question to everyone here so i get more feedback.
I bought my car pre build and its now booked in for its first MOT with me.
I need to know where i stand with emmisions so i dont get into an arguement with the tester. My mk is on a J plate. but has a 1989 CBR1000F engine.
Its 2 years old.
Will it be just a smoke test during its mot? If this is the case will they not need to stick the CO2 probe into the exhaust? Just trying to calm my
nerves down, lol. ive even booked next week of so if it fails i can repair it and keep it on the road.

i think only Q reg are smoke test only.
you will be tested what ever the computer says.

Computer says no.
not 100% sure but Q reg is visible test only (I think this is being tightened for the future thogh).
Also old engnines, like my crossflow is visible test too (at SVA).
you don't need MOT before an SVA - hwy make like more difficult for you?
the safety test is the actual driving to the SVA

Right, the situation is as follows:
1. The car was MOT'd by the builders (CBR_TONY on here) before the SVA so it now needs an MOT every year.
2. They will stick the probe up it's pipe. I can't recall what levels they measure to but it was fine last year.
Good luck with it - I must admit that I was quite nervous last year but only because you and your mate were coming down the next day so I had no time
to resolve any issues. Thankfully, there weren't any!

My car had a mot before sva but on the log book i had 3 year,s before my next test and that is this year
my car is on a G reg

the age of engine is what sets the emmisions limits so 3.5%co 1200 ppms IIRC for 89 engine but it is up to to prove the engines age if requested too
by the tester. The co limits are no longer on the mot check sheets so he will probably use what you tell him anyway

Surely, now the systems computerised/automated the tester just follows the bouncing ball and test at limits told to by the system? -
I watched the guy test mine last year (well did most of it myself!) - when he typed in Q reg - it automatically told him to test as 1971. OK -
different for you being none Q, but imagine it will tell him what to do.
You could hope that the systems off line and argue?

I'm not about to argue with you because I know that there are many inconsistant cases. However, given that the car's been MOT'd the
last two years I think Andy's got no hope of arguing that it doesn't need an MOT this year.

After a few moments with the MOT guy its a straight pass. He had to contact 'them' as a few things were questioned.
Only trouble is im now freezing as it did snow on me AND i think i might have fryed the clutch trying to get it out of the brake rollers.
as ive booked this week off to get it thru the MOt what shall i do?

A week should be plenty of time to check and replace the clutch!
