Newbie after advice
Hello all,
I am in the process of deciding which kit to buy. I am pretty sure I will go MK indy although have not yet worked out if it will be car or bike
engined.
Just really wanted to get some pointers, advise, do's, dont's before I get on the slippery slope of emptying the bank account on a new
toy.
Also are there any builders in the herts or beds area as all the post I read seem to be from up north...

Welcome to the forum. Before you decide which engine to fit, try and get a passenger ride in both BEC and CEC and then go out and source your bike
engine.

first work out your budget ,then read as much as you can on this forum before spending any money do a search mk in the seach bit would be a good start

Welcome to the forum... I cannot recommend the MNR highly enough but there again I'm biased towards it. But, thats only because I looked around
and came to the conclusion it was the kit AND nice people that I wanted to deal with.
I've not skimped on parts but tried to use as much as possible from the Sierra and am on target for 7.5K now having just bought some nice wheels
in the Halfords sale.

Welcome!
Blue touch paper lit on the old "engine question" !
You may want to also consider what you will want to use the car for - road/track/touring etc. Apparently BECs can be a little "wearing" on
long journeys

If you go the BEC route you'll turn into a broken record similar to Mac users who bang on and on about something that's inferior
I'd go for BEC if I didn't think i'd become one of them. CEC is the most manly, that's all that matters at the end of the
day.
A car engine sounds like Heidi Klum gargling honey, a symphony of smooth, bassy tones. This isn't so with BECs though

It's either your hearing aid batteries that are gone, or maybe even your diff if you reckon a Pinto sounds like Heidi Klum. Whatever it is, you

Its good to hear both sides....por's and con's.
I still have to yet to decide the main use, either touring, blasting round the local roads or occasional track days.

as previously mentioned please make sure as a minimum you get a passenger ride in the manufacturers chassis' you are considering buying, and
even better than that try to get to drive the thing. then and only then will you know which chassis you fit in and like.
cec or bec - only you can decide that
next piece of advice is whether you decide cec or bec after a while you'll want more so it doesn't really matter which you choose

I've got a CEC and would go BEC if I built again.
Having said that my Indy was great fun with a standard 1.8 CVH.
I'm not far from Herts, but off the road for a Zetec installation at the mo.

hi spend a day and come and see me I have some nice MNR's
plus others so you can have a good look then I can take you out in my R1 car I might connect the NOS but scared my passenger last time

First thing to say a BEC offers unbeatable performance for you buck but a word of caution.
Do you realise just how different a Sevenish car is from a FWD hatch ?
Even a modest Pinto engine provides more poke than anything short of a Ferrari.
Build a CEC then once you have mastered it move on if you want more power.
