Hydra mech rally design rear calipers
Has anyone fitted these to an Indy?
I bought the kit inc discs from Rally Design since they were supposed to be a conversion for the drum based sierra rear end. I've had the hubs
turned down to 134mm to fit the discs.
However, they calipers/brackets didn't fit the MK Indy drum uprights which I've now swapped for disc uprights with the cutouts at the
rear.
Started bolting them up yesterday to find they still dont fit (not even close). The fluid inlet fouls the upright.
Anyone done this conversion successfully?
I dont think new brackets/spacers will work because it'll place the caliper too far away from the disc.
I think I'm going to have to take the angle grinder to the upright and weld in some new metal.
Cheers
J

Have you a picture ?
Sometimes it possible to use a banjo bolt to land the hose.

Hi Mark, already fitted a banjo but it's not going!
Hopefully can see from the photos but it looks like the shoulder would need cutting off and a new piece welding in.

Have you tried swapping over the calipers Left to right hand side? or rotating the mounting bracket through 90/180 degrees?

Have you got the braket on the right way?
EDIT
I'm wrong - having looked at the photo for a second time I can.

Just had a panic then that I hadn't tried all of the combinations!!! Been out to the garage again and checked...
Should say that the bracket should be the other way up to give the clearance for the disc.
Tried both calipers, tried the bracket inverted and at 180degrees. 90 degrees doesn;t work since it fouls the top/bottom of the upright.
Good suggestions guys, anyone with experience of this setup?? before I break out the angle grinder?
Cheers everyone so far
EDITED to say: also tried sandwiching the bracket between the hub and upright but that;s definitely wrong.
