MK Indy Chassis Number...

Does anybody know if MK use a standard sequence of characters anywhere in their chassis numbers as I'm filling in my SVA form and would like to conform if possible.

If not I was planning on going for MK2009 plus my initials and date of birth as this adds up to precisely 17 characters

No. Sequence of letters/numbers is entirely up to either you, or your local DVLA.

Thats a great idea, unless like me you end up buying a car from someone who used his name in the chassis number. It doesn't mean alot to me to have it then on view...

Rember no O (Oh's) and no I (Eye's).
Only One and Zero allowed for those letters.

eg the word "Viento" in a VIN would have to be v1ent0 with a One and a Zero instead of an "i" and a "o".

Might save you some grief.

Make up your own chassis number. Also I have a red MK Indy bonnet with minor damage where it flew off but landed in a grass verge if you're interested.

Send U2U.

Cheers, Kurt

Check with your local DVLA if it's OK to make your own. If you really want your own sequence, send them a letter to inform them what it is and tell them that you have already had it stamped on the chassis.

I've just had my DVLA inspection yesterday. Leeds DVLA were really funny about me supplying my own, they were having none of it. The guy there (Richard) really knows his stuff and knows which manufacturers sell chassis's with stamped VINs and which ones don't. To be fair to him though he was a decent enough bloke. He's actually leaving at the end of January though so those rules may well change a little.

I got home tonight and my VIN is here already, only 13 digits though? -Weird!!
