Just bought my first bec but throttle cable snapped

Hi gents good news is bought my first ever kit car and bec.

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/924529.htm

drove it from yorkshire to sandbach and to be honest was pleased to get home!
did not like motorway at all, also car got soooo loud at about 70?? seemed ok accelerating and slowing but when maintaining this speed it was really loud, anyway got it home and took a few of family out for a drive then the throttle cable snapped!!!!!!! managed to turn tick over up and crawled home,
The cable seems to have come out of the cylinder shapped holder which it's soldered to or fixed to at the carb end and thats still stuck in there, engine is a fireblade, does anyone know best way to get it out, if it has a grub screw to refit cable, and if not where i could get a cable from tommorow? MK said post cheque etc. but that will be ages so any quick fixes eg bike shop or lawnmower shop? thanks in advance

We can supply a cable with nipple already soldered on with outer cable and correct adjusters on the end for you, all you need to do is cut inner to length and terminate pedal end. If thats any help give me a call on 01449 736633 - I will be at the unit all day Saturday
regards
Andy

Unless you fix the real problem it will happen again and again and again.

You have to fit an adjustable throttle pedal stop --- the loud pedal when pushed to the floor should to be able overstrain the cable or worse break the carbs.

The pedal stop should be set so the pedal can only open the throttles 98% not try to force more than fully open.

Ahhhh - the voice of reason - rely on MR BT!!!

On the MK's - there is also the in-line problem on t'other end... the throttle tube can be offest to the pedal - so much so that the cable rubs and chaffs against the said tube and eventually snaps.

Buy earplugs and a crash helmet, blade should be pulling about 6900 rpm at 69.99999mph (really must get a new keyboard for the laptop the key between 6 and 8 don't work) you've still got at least 4000 rpm to go. take it easy get to know it's limits, and for god's sake DON'T PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN WITH COLD TYRES IT WILL BITE YOU....
enjoy and welcome

Nor on damp or greasy roads - I have a 100 BHP x-flow car, and it'll spin its wheels if I floor it in third on a damp road...

But don't do what I did today - driving on the motorway in the Indy for the first time in ages - gripping the wheel so tight your fingers go whiter than a soap commercial...

Great timing though, btw. Just in time for spring & summer.

Thanks from me to Mr BT, too - I'm going to make sure I have a throttle stop. Don't want a set of carbs to add to my hopefully-staying-short shopping list.
