Pinto to Zetec
When I bought my car it had a pinto 165 block in, always intended after the IVA going down the zetec route with throttle bodies/bike carbs. decided
now to go straight down the zetec route and bin the pinto - has anyone else gone from pinto to zetec - I have a type 9 gearbox new AP clutch instaled
- should the zetec go straight on to this bell housing?
Thanks

type 9 bell housing bolts straight on IIRC.
remember that the exhaust is on the opposite side on the zetec to the pinto so you will have to change the sides for silencer fitment etc
engine mounts are different as well so you will have to change the engine mounts in the chassis

If you've already done the bodywork, it may be worth doing the maths for bodywork repairs / replacement vs extra cost of a duratec....

I have been offered a brand new zetec 2.0 blacktop with most ancillaries for £650 so seems daft not to considering I dont even know the pinto I have
will actually run -
I am also looking at Jenvey throttle bodies and emerald ECU - Robin hood use this set up and seems to work well ... open to ideas though if anyone
else can recomend better ..
Cheers

Id still go for pinto you already have!

I have done a load of homework this aft in to the Zetec and Im now tempted to stick with the pinto and spend a few quid making sure it works and is
reliable, Im not too fussed about top end or mega quick acceleration, reliability is what I am after ( looks and sounds good is a major plus too)
Chassis is back from powder coating later this week so I can start putting it togethor, cant wait for the next Kit car show - need so many bits and
bats !
