If M6 then take the M5/M42/M40/A40. I'd adivse looking at a map before you start your car unlike above.

May not be the best way? But the M40 is a good way into london..
Looks like you want to end up on the M11 at least that the correct side of london, shame the road is pants...

Will prob get shot down but from Cumbria its got to be M6, M1 for West Ham, or maybe straight under M1 at end of M6 onto A14 then A1 or continue onto
M11 ?
M40's wrong side and means a trek through town, thats without looking at a map btw

I think I'd agree thing is it looks nasty to get to west ham by train; not sure what the best way is; some one needs to suggest a station with
cheap parking...

I always park at Tottenham Hale and get the tube or train into London.

You want to use M6, M1, A406 and park near the ground. Ignore suggestions of going into West London and tubing it, that is not the approach you
want.
Another option is M6, M1, M25 clockwise then M11 to A406. These will both get you down near to the ground!

forget parking near the ground, that would be a nightmare. All you want is a tube station on the district line to take you straight to upton Park.
parking in west london is not such a bad idea, although 1.5 hours on a tube may not make sense- you could whizz round the M25/ A406 to Beckton in 45
minutes...
