indy rear uprights 4 discs

I have a lsd /rear disc brake set up to go on my indy, why do i need to change the rear uprights from drum ones ?,i've had a quick look and it looks like the calliper mounting would bolt up and sandwhich between the bearing carrier and the upright like it does on the sierra,so is it the lenght of the drive shaft or the diameter thats different ?

Its the position of the bolt holes in the
upright that is different and a cut out at the top to accomodate the caliper.
the shafts are exactly the same length
and the hubs are the same size.
I had to buy new ones when i changed to disks.
