Dont think the diff will matter too much as you will need a custom prop so a sierra diff should be fine.
I think the gearbox has mbeen used before but not sure on the engine. Sounds like a good one though!
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Hiya, I've used that engine (well, the 2.0, more revs, less torque, thought the box might last longer!) and box, though not in an MK.
Used the standard saab clutch, saab 9-3 conc. slave (you'll need about and inch spacer too),cut sump by an inch or so for ground clearance,
home-made loom with standard saab ecu, etc.
Not sure how much difference there is between the 2.0 and 2.3 but mine is damn tall and yours will be slightly more so.
Take a couple of engine piccies so I can compare if you can be bothered!
Any questions, just ask

Forgot to mention, budget a little more than normal for a propshaft, the Omega box is apparantly an odd one to mate up to, BailyMorris and the others
all quoted £200+vat (at least), used autoprop-uk in the end, came to £150(ish) including vat and I'm very happy with it.
Rough dimensions:
An early test fit piccie, not many mm to spare on fitting
There was also Jesus-ninja on here who was putting one in a midi I think, and some guy who I've forgotten but used a 2.0 in a westfield I think
and made a stunningly clean job of it too (he's sold it now).
Edit: Found it - j30fos was his username

That's better.
BTW did I mention I drive a Saab 2.0T!
So good luck, had thoughts myself, couldd'nt swap though, will have to build another
What do you intend to use for management, presumably not the Saab ecu?

will be interesting to see how that gearbox comes out in terms of ease of fitment, I'm doing a Zero with the Saab 2.0 turbo (B204L), type 9 box
and a vauxhall to ford bellhousing. Easy on the prop aspect but the T9 may not like the abuse from the turbo!

Do you mean ease of fitment to the engine? If so, then it's simple, it bolts straight on.

Sorry I was a bit vague! How do the gear linkages work? The Sierra box is self contained. And size-wise, how does the Omega box compare?

I can't back this up with any numbers but I do remember thinking "bloody hell that gearbox looks fat!" when it turned up on my
doorstep. I really should have measured it before I put it in the car, its bloody cold outside so dont fancy it now! (+its boxed up in it's
little coffin on my driveway )
The Linkage is not as rigidly mounted as the type 9, the gearstick is on the end of a long pivoted shaft coming out above the drive flange, would be
quite easy to cut/lengthen and re-weld to move it around a bit, I got lucky and it ended up about 20mm further back than the original was. (replaced a
X-flow/2000e).
The gearstick is about a foot tall though, I should get round to shortening it really!
