just how fast are they????
I was just wondering how fast my MK Indy ZX9r is likely to be??#
I mean the 0-60 times
and the 0-100 times??
Does anybody have any idea?? They are about as quick as an R1 BEC if anyone knows these times.
Cheers

Get a mate to sit in it with a stop watch.

should be the same as the r1 and zx9r are a match for each other on two wheels.

similar to the R1, I'd guess - wont be much in it.
have you got the car? why not take it out and try get some times?
0-60 time will be about 4secs I;d guess, the 0-100 depends on gearing. Mine maxes out at 100 due to silly diff I have fitted, but it makes it quick
off the line, and I spend more time between 0 and 70 mph than 70- 100.
I have a 893cc fireblade locost, if you ever want a trip out whilst you are building I'm only in Liverpool.

My R1 Vortx would do 0-50 (in 1st) in 3 sec and 50 - 60 in 1 sec, so that's 4 sec to 60 plus gearshift time. Mine was fairly porky at 530kg. A
decent light weight car would sneak in under 4 seconds I'd have thought.

wouldnt the best way be to get one of those dash stacks that have a timer setting?

With a good rider on the 9R and an average one on the R1 maybe.....

Forget straight lines, that's not what these sort of cars are for - otherwise we'd by building dragsters..
It's about agility, handling and feel.
Anybody can make something go quick 0-60, getting it to break, turn in and give silly amounts of apex speed that's a different ball game
altogether and where our sort of cars shine.
Dump the 0-60 meter, strap a laptimer on instead

You wouldnt stand a chance, both of them bikes are less than half the weigh of an BEC Indy

you want to know if you would stand a chance if you raced something with an identical engine but less than half the weight?

A wet super bike weighs about 200kg and the rider 75kg. A lightwight BEC at 475kg plus a 75kg driver is twice as heavy. First gear is shorter in
the BEC so the bike would only be 25% faster off the line. From 50 upwards, he'd leave you for dead.
600cc bikes are another matter. I found that they couldn't pull away, which was always fun.

Dunno depends on the circuit you were on, and if you - or the bloke on the bike - are any good..

I wouldn't even bother thinking about it, a 400cc race rep will do 0-60 in 4 seconds, a 600cc is as quick as a 1000cc bike upto 70 and still
quicker than a BEC.
I'd never judge any car as bike quick unless its a Veyron/maclaren F1.

That's not quite true. In a straight line my Indy Bird and a mates Ducati Monster are level all the way up to 100. And I'm a bit quicker
in the bends. But that's down to how he rides rather than anything else.

As you said its only as quick as the person in the saddle, the 600/750cc monster have never been known as quick though, I'm talking about
liquid cooled bikes.

0-60 between 4 and 5 seconds
0-100 approx 13-14 seconds
Never seen a zx9/r1/blade mk Indy, better any of those times.
As said above 7's are about corners not straight lines, but be aware that in a straight line you are likely to be put to shame by decent powered
tintops let alone bikes.
Search for mk drag results if you want to see how similar cars have faired.

i had a yamaha fzr1000exup bc(before children) o-60 was irrelevent 'coss that happened too quick I never had a chance to time it to 100( i was
trying to hold on keep the front wheel down) but i would say around 5seconds if not a bit under and 140 around 10seconds +/-
and just for the record this was all on a track

My MK Indy R1 easily does sub 13 seconds to 100 with just a driver. That's taking it easy on the standing start too. They're certainly not
as quick as the stats suggest when you plug them into calculators though.

Drag day results, for the zx9,r1 and blades,
Terminal speeds for the becs were between 98-101mph, so from that you can assume that the 0-100 time is as listed below.
13.274 Fazer 1000
13.280 954 Blade
13.522 893 Blade
13.555 893 Blade
13.557 R1
14.131 ZX9R
14.494 893 Blade
Conditions were excellent for traction circa 30 degrees iirc

Why not bring it along to Santa Pod on the 7th of march, there's a few people off here going with becs, and a few tin tops, if yours will easily
do a sub 13 to 100mph then it should be pretty quick on the strip.

I guess if you've got a CEC you need 240bhp to match those sorts of times? In gear must be quicker though?
