how much can you cut an mk bonnet without weakening it too much?

with summer supposedly just around the corner i'm doing some tinkering with the indy. In the 5 years of having the car on the road my biggest gripe has been the amount of heat build up under the bonnet. I was looking over some caterhams at donno on sunday and they all have louvered bonnets, got me wondering about cutting something shapely into mine and putting some mesh behind it but i don't want to end up with the bonnet collapsing at the 1st sign of a hot day! Any suggestions?

built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

i cut my bonnet to cover up some scratches and also a whole that was already there, i've had no issues, the metal mesh is attached using fibreglass kit from motosave. This should give you an idea of the size of the holes i cut out

see the lower picture in post above, study the gate in the background?. look at how much open space there is. seek insipiration.

cut as much as you want out of the bonnet but you need to strengthen it in other ways, for example PUing bits of angle aluminium to the underside to keep its rigidity.
