Hello
Just a quick post to introduce myself on the forum. Have been reading the masses of info posted here for a while and have finally taken the plunge to
join the community.
Based on what I have read on here and various great sites (especially Hellfire's) went to MK last Saturday morning and placed my order for an
Indy. I can only back up the general opinion on here regarding the helpfulness of Phil and the guys there - the tea was excellent too. Unfortunately
we couldn't stay too long to wait for the Saturday morning gatherings as work was calling. ( Building a 7m x 7m garage at my mates - perfect for
a kit build)
However I am sure I will bump into some of you guys down there in the coming weeks. Options decided so far are the extra braces to roll bar, powder
coating, disc rear, R1 engine, LSD, red with black arches.
Picked up a 3.62 LSD off ebay last year and am due to pick up a 2.9GLS 4x4 Sierra this week.
Apologies that the avatar is a Mini but in mitigation it is RWD running an R1 motor. Belongs to my mate and we rally it. First Mini ever built by
Chris at Z-Cars - very clever bloke. From our experience running the R1 it has been bullet proof - only run with a little extra oil in and Barnett
clutch.

Welcome to the forum, glad to see you are another MK builder. We will have you on the road in no time.
Dont worry about the mini avatar! We are all car nuts here and love most things with wheels! I learnt most of what i know about cars, from working on
minis. So have quite a love for them.
When is the chassis going to be ready? and have you got any hopes for when the car is going to be finished?
Good Luck
Chris

Hi and welcome. Do you live in Howden? If so im just up the road at Cliffe. I arent building an indy but i think youve made a good choice. Theres
a few local builders in the area. Whens your kit due to arrive? Feel free to get in touch if theres anything i might be able to help with though
theres a lot more experienced people on here than me!! Does your friend with the mini live in Airmyn?

Richard,
welcome to the Nuthouse and thanks for the compliments on our website. As you will no doubt be aware, we tend to turn up at MK most Saturday mornings.
If you happen to be around, pop over for a chat. Good luck with your build.

Thanks for all the messages of support - only confirms my initial impressions of the quality of this forum.
To answer a couple of questions - have been quoted 6-8 weeks for kit delivery, glad I got in the queue before Newark as Phil is expecting to bolster
the order book substantially there. Having seen the quality of the product I expect he will be right. Hoping to be on the road by the end of the
year but fully expect to miss this target comfortably !!!
Yes I do live in Howden - but I am going to be building the car in Hull in my mates new garage - 7metres square versus a single garage dating from the
Jurassic era isn't a difficult choice to make. This is the same mate that has the Mini - very seldom seen on the roads - usually kicking butt
on stage rallies.
I will certainly come over for a nosy Hellfire when I see you at MK - your car is certainly a credit to you - only hope I can maintain the high
standard everyone is setting. If I ever need inspiration in times of turmoil I will turn to the pictures of Scotlad's car as this is the same
colour combo I have ordered.
Off to pick up donor on Sunday http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2480896942&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
Have agreed a price with him to include the alloys as well. Going to put the car on 17's when its finished.
Am i right in assuming from previous posts that the prop is no good being a 4x4. I know that the PAS rack is no good but was planning on a new
quickrack anyway. However the guy says it is non ABS so that makes life a little easier and at the price with V5 etc I dont mind visiting my local
scrappy for a prop.
Will keep updating with progress - might even manage a website and I am sure I will be asking plenty of questions!

sod it, more LSDs another day i guess...
ps, why are you using that as a donor if you already have an LSD?

Wanted Sierra with rear discs and this was first I found close to me at the right money. The guy is at work - will be ending the listing as soon as
he gets home. I wasn't sure whether this had an LSD as a helpful listing by Graceland didn't list the GLS 4x4 as having LSD. If it turns
out that it does come with LSD then I would happy to do a deal with you.

Richard,
XR4x4 prop isn't much use for a bike engine. Its too short.

Rich, Get a prop made from Bailey Morris, I got one made with a TRT ( Torque Resilant Tube ) for my R1 Indy Makes the gear selection less snappy. BM
are very helpfull and friendly and have a very quick turn around.

Thanks for that j30fos - might well try them. Can you give me an idea of how much they charged?
